This opera was written directly for the South Bohemian Theatre by composer Jan Jirásek, winner of two Czech Lions for film music. It is specific in its almost cinematic treatment, with rapid changes of images and shifts in the storyline. Here is a link to a short video trailer. The stunning sets and costumes are definitely worth mentioning, and as well as a live orchestra, the opera chorus and ballet company perform, it is a truly breathtaking spectacle.
